Most job counselors ask you 'What do you want to do next!' in your career. Then proceed to develop a job campaign to the target executives of respective companies or send you to a jobsite in customer service, mfg assembly or telemarketing.

As you explore different opportunities expand your search to include looking at 'various' roles surrounding your passion industry to actually find a job you like.

There is one lesson that I've learned in my life that I would like to share with America. Everyone will not be able to work in there 'dream job' everyday of there lives.

However, with or without a degree they will be able to find a job that 'FITs' them based on there strengths, weaknesses, and passion in a industry they love.

For those who are without a degree do not accept conventional wisdom that the best you can do is 'wind up in a low paying job' with no future. Attempt with all strength to break down this psychological and statistical roadblock.

The only thing a college degree does for you is give you access to certain jobs that require a particular certification, that may yield social prestige.

A college degree, by itself, cannot instill in you the qualities that it truly takes to become successful. It cannot define the strengths, weaknesses, passions and interests of an individual. Most if not all successful musicians or producers do not have formal degrees. Yet the have hours of mentoring, practicing and performing under there belt before becoming a independent record label.

A person can make enormous money in a variety of capacities and roles surrounding a pursuit of passion, none of which require a college education. What they do require is passion !

There are no rules for creating or participating in jobs surrounding your passion area.

• Starting a business selling music equipment, supplies or service, audio engineer, lighting engineer
• Become an instructor to teach others about your passion area in music or video productions
• Writer - you can always research an area of music and write about it (newspaper or newsletter reporter)
• Event Organizer - to organize concerts, events, exhibitions, competitions and festivals, business manager, promotions coordinator, publicists, web designer
• Manufacturers Rep to sell music equipment or products in your area of interest
• Designer - improve equipment, choreagraph dance routines, performance uniforms or stage sets
• A professional critic like movie, sports, book, theater, music, business or a commentor and share your expert opinion on a subject matter
• Create a nonprofit - to share service or knowledge needed in a community about music, dance, spoken word
• Create a webpage/blog - create a discussion group of users in your area of interest about music

If you use your imagination you can create a role around your area of music interest to sell to others.

Peter Drucker once said, there are two keys to being a success in business (1) a great management team and (2) create a market for new customers. In tough economic times dreamers have always made the economic breakthroughs through building there dream companies, people like Jay Zee, Michael Jackson, Russell Simmons, Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, Walt Disney and Timbaland to name a few.

It is often said, Follow your dream and the money will come........As it did for these individuals it will for you.
